Basic Racing Rules

Our Multi hull fleet is run by Rex and Reba Bristow. Rex started sailing 38 years ago, in 1979. His first boat was a Hobie 16. By the end of his first season, he had won a fleet point’s regatta and was hooked! Reba’s first sail was on a Sunfish on Fellow’s Lake north of Springfield.  Soon after, she started working for the Hobie dealer in Springfield who introduced her to Rex in the summer of 1981.  By the next summer, Rex and Reba were active on the Midwest regatta scene.  The duo raced Hobies for the next 20 years, becoming a dominating force on the Hobie 18 and then the Hobie 20.They have raced in Florida, San Francisco Bay, and many lakes from Texas to Illinois.  In 1989, the couple won the Lake Stockton Governors Cup, non-spinnaker division, on the Hobie 18.

In 2000, the couple bought their first trimaran, a Corsair F=31 they named “Winged Impulse”. They raced in eight Trimaran National Championships where they placed as high as second in the 31 fleet.  Back on Lake Stockton, the couple and their team won two Governors’ Cups in the spinnaker fleet.

In the fall of 2014, the couple sold their Corsair F-31 and purchased a Corsair Cruz 970, a 32 foot trimaran, which they currently sail on Lake Stockton and cruise in the Bahamas.

Rex and Reba are now enjoying spending as much time as they can on Lake Stockton during the Missouri sailing season and cruising the Bahamas during the winter months having made 10 trips to the islands.

If you are a Multi Hull sailor of any type or brand, we welcome you. Bring the Hobies and let’s race! Watch this website and our Facebook page for more details.
