Below is a list of these start times specific to to this race and is a 5 mile cruise races . Official Start times for all of the Cruise Races will be posted on the Marina Bulletin boards at Orleans Train and State Park Marinas, so please check your official start times from those bulletin boards before each race.

Calculation information

Time Length Notice
For all pursuit start races a time length has been established to allow for a timely completion of all races. The time limit on the race will be 2 hours to reach the last turning mark before the finish line. If a single boat is able to round the final buoy and turn toward the finish line before the 2 hour mark, the race will continue with no time limit to the finish.
If no boat is able to reach the final buoy and turn toward the finish line, the race will be called at the 2 hour mark from the Base Boat Start Time. In the case the race is called due to time, boats will be marked in place for the finish, if there is discrepancy of the finish order, the order of the boats making it past last buoy will be used to place boats.
Cancelation due to Weather Conditions
For all cruising series races there will be an announcement on VHF CH#71 at Orleans Trail Marina and State Park marina one hour before the “base” starting time to inform the competitors that the RC boat is leaving the harbor to proceed to the starting line. If there is a need to postpone the race, it will be announced on the VHF radio ch#71 and the race will be postponed for at least one hour and no more than 2 hours into the future. For more information on race day, phone or text 913-744-8319
This coming Saturday, August 12, the regular starting times centered around 12 noon will be used. Thankfully, the forecast calls for more moderate temperatures and a west wind of 10+ mph.
How to read the starting time chart
Base PHRF includes all available base sails for the boat. This includes the Main, Jib, and Spinnaker. Adjusted PHRF is what we commonly call JAM (jib and main) fleet or adjusted PHRF. In this chart, the JAM adjustment is 15 seconds per mile. This is an arbitrary amount added and traditionally used by LSYC. You will see that the non spinnaker fleet has a higher PHRF
