I’d like to start this chat with a huge THANK YOU to Guy and Todd for throwing the BIG EEEEEEVent! Outdoor movies, horseshoes, tunes, dinner, and a keg proved to make for a really good time! 900 dock showed up and dropped a horseshoe challenge to E dock. The Club is lucky to have such great talent throwing parties.
And this Saturday, the event we have all been waiting for:
Starting simplified for the Novice Racer!
New tricks and practice for the Pros!
Ron Barrow, Rex Bristow, and Tommy Heausler will lead an interactive workshop on Saturday that will cover the bases on starts.
They’ll discuss “How-to” for the beginner and demystify the flag sequence and horn tooting on the committee boat.
They’ll share experiences, starting strategies, and discuss how the rules differ before and after the start for the more seasoned.
After the indoor session, we’ll take to the water to try some of the stuff we’ve learned.   If you want, there will be coaches available to go with you for the Start and Start practice session.
When, Where:
9:30AM  – 11:00AM  OT Restaurant – Old Bar Area…  (We’ll have coffee and maybe a doughnut or two.)
12:00PM – 2:00PM   On the Water Practice (We’ll try to squeeze in 8 – 10 starts.)
Please reply Ron.Barrow@sbcglobal.net and let us know how many from your boat will be coming.

See you all there,

Will.i.am.   Just kidding, this is Barry.e.nelson (not nearly as cool)
(Seriously, folks, this weekend’s seminar is cool. Be there. All members are free, future members- I will pass a hat along with an application.)
(O.T. is generously giving us this space for free. If you came early and had breakfast in their restaurant ahead of time, that would be the cool thing to do)(and in this heat, we need all the cool we can get)
(PYC aka Perry Yacht Club is inviting us to their place for Labor Day and their Commodore’s Cup- check out their website)

Over and out from Barley Wheat and Rye Social House in Springfield.
